[Tweeters] Grays Harbor Co birding

Yesterday Mark Ahlness, Janeanne Houston and I birded Grays Harbor County. The day exceeded our expectations!


Here are a few highlights:


BRADY LOOP : we visited late morning & again late afternoon
Red-necked Phalarope - 2
RED PHALAROPE - 1
Dunlin - 1
Least Sandpiper - 1
Western Sandpiper - 20
Long-billed Dowitcher - 15
Greater Yellowlegs - 1
Pectoral Sandpiper - 1
Bank Swallow - many, some flying "in formation"
Peregrine Falcon - brought our PM shorebird viewing to an end w/ an unsuccessful attack & aerial show


WESTPORT MARINA
Brown Pelican - a few
FORK-TAILED STORM-PETREL - easily 40 (probably many more) seen within the marina and in the harbor nearby
RED PHALAROPE -1 in the marina in near alternate plumage; stunning bird; it or another in the harbor
Common Tern - 50 and more in the harbor
Bonaparte's Gull - many in the marina and harbor
Wandering Tattler - 1 seen from the tower
Peregrine Falcon - 1 perched like a gargoyle near the tower


BOTTLE BEACH : dwindling numbers of shorebirds but still worth a look
Short-billed Dowitcher - 33
Western Sandpiper - 1
Red Knot - 2
Black-bellied Plover - 2
Swainson's Thrush - 1 whitting along the trail
Olive-sided Flycatcher - 1
