> On Wednesday and Thursday we birded Semiahmoo in hopes of seeing a few of the rarities that had been previously reported. On Wednesday we repeatedly (4 passes each) scanned the flock of 800+ shore birds on the west side of the Semiahmoo spit. We came up with 8 Short-billed Dowitchers with the rest being Black-bellied Plovers. We returned on Thursday and had much better results. We barely got out of the parking lot at the southern end of the spit when we ran into a great variety of small birds just NW of the restrooms. Eventually we tore ourselves away to get on with our shorebird quest. This time we found 2 Marbled Godwits, 1 Hudsonian Godwit, 1 Willet and 1 Dunlin in addition to the Black-bellied Plovers and Short-billed Dowitchers. Here are some photos.
