This afternoon at Pt Wilson, Port Townsend there was an impressive movement
of Red-br Mergansers. About 700 birds passed northbound, in tight groups of
50 to 100, in the span of five minutes. Either the beginning of northbound
migration or repositioning to food sources in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

In other local news, the Rhino Auklets have returned and are now solidly
the most abundant alcid. They pass daily southbound in the morning and
northbound in the afternoons. Most have full plumes already!
