One possible solution for low resolution pictures from a trail cam might be to use a program like Topaz Gigapixel. I use it when I overly crop a picture resulting in a low resolution picture. Topaz Gigapixel has algorithms to make a larger file with better resolution and details. It works great for my purposes. This software can be downloaded for a free trail.
