I’ll be honest, I didn’t count numbers today, but while we were doing yard
work my husband counted over 40 of the Grosbeaks. We’ve been planting in
the yard, mostly stuff for bees and hummers, not finished though.
Here’s the morning to early afternoon list, no particular order
American Robin
Stellers Jay
Black-Headed Grosbeak
Evening Grosbeak
Band-Tailed Pigeon
American Goldfinch
Pine Siskin
Lesser Goldfinch
Red-Breasted Nuthatch
Chestnut Backed Chickadee
Black Capped Chickadee
Pine Siskin
Pileated Woodpecker
Hairy Woodpecker (with young)
Northern Flicker
Anna’s Hummingbird
Rufous Hummingbird (lots of babies)
Dark Eyed Junco (babies galore)
Song Sparrow
Western Tanager
Starling
Crow
Wilson’s Warbler
Bewick’s Wren
So, to put it mildly, yard work can be a lot of fun, and we get easily
distracted
